Shaped to Make a Difference/ I am Formed by God for a Purpose

God loves our uniqueness! He created it!

Psalm 139:
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.

As Pastor Dennis launches into this new series we have the opportunity to contemplate what is keeping us from accepting the S.H.A.P.E. God gave us. This week I am going to pray and think about what I need to let go of -so-I can take on what God will give me to fulfill the purpose He has for me.

The DVD shown had such a good visual for this...the closed hands with pretty and dirty labels. I am going to spend time this week opening my hands!

Psalm 139:
17How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!

I was captivated by that line in scripture which said: "you made me complex". There was a time in my life when I if thought being complex was a no-no; for example, I would feel insulted when an ex-boyfriend would ask: "why do you have to be so complicated?" Life as a believer has shown me that my complexity is a GIFT to be savored and ultimately used for the purposes of sharing the fruits of the Holy Spirit. I AM complex, and darn it, I like that about me. I have so many thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams, fears and insecurities, likes and dislikes. And yes, I can be a little unpredictable... I am tired one day, and full of bounce on another. If you're a woman who thinks being complex is a negative quality... think again. BE COMPLEX! I am excited about seeing complexity as part of my unique make-up and discovering how God will use it for the good of those around me!

"Thank-you for making me so wonderfully complex". Now there's an exclamation. There was a time in my life when I thought complexity was a rather off-putting quality about me. I once had an ex-boyfriend ask: "why do you have to be so complicated?" Life as a believer has taught me that complexity is something to be celebrated. I AM COMPLEX and darn it, I like that about me. I'm learning that this is a facet of my shape. I have so many thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams, fears and hurts, ambitions and drives, longings and desires. And God made me this way! I am challenged to discover how He will develop this in me, and ultimately use it for the good of those around me.
