Looking Past the Cultural Divide

We continue to be challenged in the Sunday messages to reach out.

Pastor Dennis made it so clear about those 2 commandments being co-equal and co-essential. I think that that is a mystery of sorts and explains the tension of living out those commandments. Personally, I think God loves mysteries! It is then that we must rely on Him. We can't truly live those commandments that are at the heart of how God wants us to live unless we are connected to Him.

Applying our lives to this message means paying attention to our personal conversations with God...you know, praying and listening to God. And as we spend time with Him this week, let's ask Him to give us His heart in regards to the people and their needs.

Imagine...A Simple Vision

A vision for us...change the conversation in our community about the Church and God. So what is it that we concentrate on next in light of today's sermon? What I came away with today is that people are important to God. That's what this is all about, the people. We need to see the people in our lives the way Jesus sees them...Want for them what Jesus wants for them. And even if like Peter we have had our faith shaken, our dreams or expections messed around with, Jesus patiently, lovingly gives another chance to see the potential we have to see this vision fulfilled.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.(NIV)

This week let us remember and act like people are important...all of us!

The Power of Story

1 Pet 3:15 Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect...(NIV)

Well this is a simple entry to write...Just do it...Let's write our stories! Remember to make it brief, humble, easy to understand and real.

Living in 3D

I am so excited about the first week of the Walk Across the Room campaign. We can do this!

It's about caring about people the way God cares and with His help.

  • Deepening relationships (just look around where you live) in order to--
  • Discover the stories...be ready to listen to folks...care about what they are saying.
  • Discern the appropriate next steps. God wants us to depend on Him. He is there to give us good questions to ask. He will give us words to encourage with and to invite with. He will tell us when enough is enough and when to push a little. And if we will give Him time every day in our Bibles and praying...the easier it will be to hear His voice.
